Mardi Gras Menu

"Laissez les bons temps rouler!"

It's Fat Tuesday* (Mardi Gras) and we're cooking... oh my yes, we're cooking and celebrating at Sur la Table tonight.(link
*Fat Tuesday is the traditional name for the day before Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. It is more commonly known as Mardi Gras, which is simply Fat Tuesday in French. It gets its name from the custom, in many Catholic countries, of marking the day with feasting before the fasting season of Lent begins.

What To Expect:
Great cooking isn't about recipes--it's about techniques. In our classes you'll work together with other students in a fun, hands-on environment led by our professional chef instructors.

Now doesn't that sound like fun?! I love the published menu for tonight's class; these traditional dishes are already family favorites, but I look forward to the opportunity to explore new techniques and seasoning twists. Maybe I should pack a thermos of something alcoholic to get the party rolling... or maybe not, since sharp knives are involved.

I will report back with photos and updates from the class later this week. Meanwhile, here are the links to some Mardi Gras dishes, versions I have shared in previous OTM-InTheGalley posts. Once again, all together now:

"Laissez les bons temps rouler!"

  1. I think we have the same date in our calendar here but we call it 'Shrove Tuesday' or 'Pancake Tuesday'. I think I'd like to try that olive sandwich xx

    1. Both Shrove Tuesday and Mardi Gras highlight good eats (and offer a tempting opportunity to over-indulge!) The muffuletta sandwich IS a favorite.
